Love Takes Over
08/15/02
Verse 1:
On a warm spring night a young couple sits at the riverside on their first date.
Both full of anticipation and a little fear, she feels his hands begin to shake.
The moment before that first kiss seems like it’s never going to end
He closes his eyes, she closes hers, and their lips finally amend
Then Love takes over…
Chorus:
Love will always lead the way to make the wrongs right.
Love finds the way to light even the darkest of nights.
Love speaks a language that no one can define or comprehend.
If it’s real and meant to be, love will always take over in the end.
Verse 2:
5 years fly by and the same two souls sit on a front porch swing.
He gets up, kneels down, and presents her with a beautiful diamond ring.
He’s practiced this speech a thousand times before, but the words just won’t come out.
His hand starts to shake, his voice begins to stutter, she still knows what this is all about.
Then Love takes over…
Chorus:
Love will always lead the way to make the wrongs right.
Love finds the way to light even the darkest of nights.
Love speaks a language that no one can define or comprehend.
If it’s real and meant to be, love will always take over in the end.
Bridge:
Before they realize it, 50 years pass as quickly as that first night by the river.
Years that bring many more struggles, but love deals with all that was delivered.
Verse 3:
On a chilly spring night he stands next to her hospital bed.
He attempts to say what’s in his heart, but they sit in silence instead.
His hands start to shake, as he looks deep into her tired yet beautiful eyes.
A tear runs down her face, as he tries to tell her his final goodbye.
Then love takes over…
Chorus:
Love will always lead the way to make the wrongs right.
Love finds the way to light even the darkest of nights.
Love speaks a language that no one can define or comprehend.
If it’s real and meant to be, love will always take over in the end.
When it’s meant to be nothing can stand in it’s way.
Love takes over one final time, before the angels carry her away.
